The popularity of direct-to-garment printing on custom t-shirts is skyrocketing. We are totally blown away by the fact that more and more people are gravitating to the process known as DTG. Lower minimums and greater latitude in the printing process has revolutionized the custom t-shirt market and made custom tee shirt printing easier and cheap er than it was previously.

Custom Direct-to-garment printing requires no set-up charges on standard tee shirt orders unlike screen printing which requires additional costs for every color to be printed. Custom DTG also allows the consumer to print much more complex designs with no additional cost. Blue Heron is considered to be the preeminent authority in printing DTG on black custom t-shirts.

We accept practically any type of file for DTG printing, so long as the resolution is adequate. The best files for custom or contract DTG printing are Photoshop files.  The set-up for PSD files is quite simple. Use only transparent backgrounds with layers. Jpegs, gif, AI, CDR, EPS and PDF files may also be used. Properly done, direct-to-garment tee shirts will last just as long as conventional custom screen printing. We strongly suggest Hanes and Gildan products for the DTG process.
